Dr. Greg Perri is the founding member of Kentucky Neuropsychological Associates (KNA), having initiated the practice in August 2020. He has practiced clinical neuropsychology for 15 years, primarily in the Louisville area. His primary clinical interests include mild traumatic brain injury/concussion management, differential diagnosis of dementia, and neurocognitive correlates of psychiatric conditions. Dr. Perri also has a significant background in forensic psychology and neuropsychology. He has been recognized as an expert witness (in over 100 total cases) across the Commonwealth of Kentucky, and has also previously testified as an expert witness in federal court cases.
Dr. Perri received his doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Widener University in Southeastern PA, with a specialization certification in the fields of neuropsychology as well as forensic psychology. He completed a two year internship as well as a post-doctoral fellowship in clinical neuropsychology (the latter was completed at Alfred I. DuPont hospital in Wilmington, DE).
Dr. Perri continues to conduct neuropsychological evaluations at KNA for adults as well as adolescents. Additionally, he is a staff neuropsychologist at Southern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital, where he has assisted in development of that hospital's recently constructed brain injury unit (set to open in July 2022). He has been a board member of the Brain Injury Alliance of Kentucky for over 10 years, where he is currently involved in a project to address the epidemic of the number of brain-injured individuals within the criminal justice system. Dr. Perri is currently overseeing multiple research projects related to the practice of neuropsychology, including one of which is being conducted in conjunction with the Spalding University clinical psychology graduate program.
A native Louisvilian, Dr. Perri was born a first generation Italian-American (Calabrese!) His leisure pursuits primarily revolve around the outdoors- including hiking, kayaking, and mountain biking. He also enjoys playing poker, and has been known to be a "foodie."
Dr. Anderson-Mooney was born in Clarksville, Tennessee and grew up on the family farm where her great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents (still!) farmed. She completed her Bachelor's degree in Psychology at Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas, and she earned her Master's and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Seattle Pacific University. Dr. Anderson-Mooney completed her internship at the Colmery-O'Neil VAMC in Topeka, Kansas, and then completed a 2-year fellowship in adult Clinical Neuropsychology at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health.
Dr. Anderson-Mooney began her career in the University of Kentucky College of Medicine Department of Neurology, where she continues as adjunct faculty assisting with medical student training and guest lectures. She served as the Director of Clinical Training for the Neuropsychology Division at UK and specialized in presurgical evaluations for Deep Brain Stimulation procedures. She also completed the first presurgical neuropsychological evaluation for Responsive Neurostimulation (RNS) for treatment refractory epilepsy in the state of Kentucky.
Dr. Anderson-Mooney's work in Western Kentucky has focused on general neuropsychology as well as neurosurgical evaluations for Deep Brain Stimulation, cancer, and epilepsy. Dr. Anderson-Mooney currently serves as the chair of the Publication Committee of the National Academy of Neuropsychology. She conducts neuropsychological evaluations for patients ages 16 and older.
When she is not at work, Dr. Anderson-Mooney enjoys spending time with her husband, Daniel, and her two children, Quinn and Heath. She enjoys cooking, even though the outcomes are only variably successful. She enjoys working on her house - an ongoing restoration project! - and singing with the praise team at church.
Megan Chesher is a fourth year PsyD student at Spalding University’s clinical psychology program. Prior to her doctoral studies, Megan earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology at Loyola University Maryland. Megan has been part of the Kentucky Neuropsychological Associates team since Dr. Perri first opened the practice in 2020. Since then, Megan has completed clinical training at KNA under the supervision of Dr. Perri. She assists with neuropsychological evaluations and provides specialized services for brain injured patients. Megan’s psychotherapy approach includes a combination of cognitive rehabilitation to help individuals develop compensatory strategies and tools for improving functional competence in their day-to-day lives. In addition, she supports individuals as they come to terms with the impact of their injury and subsequently learn how to make the most of their abilities to enhance self-confidence and establish greater agency. Megan is also interested in neuropsychological assessment research, and she is currently working alongside Dr. Perri (dissertation co-chair) on a study exploring the use of a new assessment metric developed by Dr. Perri.
Throughout her graduate training, Megan has worked with diverse patient populations and numerous settings, including community mental health, long-term geriatric care, and inpatient substance use rehabilitation. Megan plans to continue her training in neuropsychological assessment and apply her skills and knowledge in geriatric care settings. She is passionate about providing services to older adults and their caregivers to help cope with old age, cognitive impairment, and loss of mental abilities.
During her free time, Megan enjoys taking her 3-year-old dog, Leo, on hikes and other outdoor adventures. Leo enjoys his leisure time almost as much as he enjoys working at KNA where he gets lots of attention, treats, and pets from clients and team members.
Rachel Finefrock was born and raised in Louisville, KY, and joined the KNA team in the fall of 2022. She earned a Bachelors of Science in Psychology from University of Kentucky in 2019, and is working on the last steps of her thesis to graduate from Purdue University with a Masters Degree in Psychology. Rachel has been passionate about neuropsychology since she learned what it was, and even interned for Dr. Perri in 2018 to get a better feel for the field. Currently, she acts as an office administrator for KNA, and assists patients to have a positive experience. Outside of work and schooling, Rachel enjoys reading, hiking, and hanging out with her pet cat and husband. She previously worked as a Registered Behavior Technician, she helped children on the spectrum learn the skills they needed to thrive. Now, in addition to her work at KNA, she continues to help children as an Instructional Tutor at a local middle school.
I'm Angela and when I was 22 I was in a car accident that resulted in a traumatic brain injury and stroke. 17 years later, I've found my life's purpose in helping others with brain injuries. I feel I have a unique perspective as a TBI warrior and bring personal experience to the table.
My least favorite part of the brain is the amygdala, because mine is overactive. I enjoy hiking on pretty days, listening to audio books, and playing video games. I dislike hate and prejudice in any form. I have two beautiful, intelligent children and a corgi who thinks he owns the house.
My name is Tonya Purtilar, and I am an administrative assistant at KNA. I have worked in the healthcare industry for over 15 years. Most of those years were spent working with the mental health and acquired brain injury (ABI) population. I previously worked with Dr. Perri at a clinical practice in the early 2010s. I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources in 2010 from Sullivan University. I am happily married to my best friend of 13 years. I spend most of my free time as a caretaker for my mother, as well as looking after my two grandchildren. My hobbies include crafting, billiards, and going to the lake. I have always had a love for working with brain injury patients, and strive to provide a compassionate experience for ABI survivors in our care.
Leo the therapy dog is an energetic addition to our practice.
He accepts treats and lots of loving from our staff and patients.
